F. Duncan Scott
Dr. Duncan Scott is a natural educator. If he isn’t mentoring medical students and nurse practitioners, he is spending time educating his patients on the particulars of their condition. The ever-shifting and challenging nature of the nephrology field attracted Dr. Scott. He believes there is never a dull moment in the discipline, and brings his passion for the kidney to Renalus Center for Kidney Care.
A native Floridian, Dr. Scott was raised in the sunny city of Orlando. It was there that he was inspired to pursue medicine through his father who is a registered nurse as well as through his own experience with childhood asthma. From the moment he first put on his Fisher Price stethoscope, it was clear he was destined to be a physician.
Dr. Scott would begin his career path in Gainesville, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacology from the University of Florida. After a year of post-baccalaureate pre-medical study at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, he would move to the beautiful beaches of Miami, Florida, enrolling in the University of Miami’s School of Medicine. He would graduate in 2001 with an MD degree with Research Distinction.
His medical journey would see Dr. Scott through an Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and through a Clinical Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Virginia. Practicing medicine since 2006, he brings a wealth of experience to the area.
Dr. Scott is a member of the Renal Physicians Association, and the Medical Association of Alabama. He has privileges at North Okaloosa Medical Center, Andalusia Regional Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast and Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
When he isn’t biking in long distance competitions, Dr. Scott is busy enjoying the company of his wife, Jennifer, and their two beautiful children, Beau and Emmeline.
